Cocoa Room, Al Safa

“There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.” ― Linda Grayson

Cocoa Room in Safa is hustling and bustling all day everyday from 8 am to 11:30 am. They have a small yet versatile menu which is bound to grab your attention and which will drive you to taste at least one dish out of every five dishes if not all.

Walking towards Cocoa Room you can’t help but notice the whole aisle of clothing lines and different eating joints. Because the weather is amazing during end of November.. we loved our little walk to the Cocoa Room.

The seating outside was almost fully occupied with people and their chatter. So we decided on taking a table inside. Walking into Cocoa Room, we were mesmerised by the interiors. It was just so.. beautiful. Every corner, lighting, seating was on point.

The menu had almost everything you would need for breakfast.. coffee, eggs, breads, pancakes, waffles etc. Though when I asked for some fruits, the person serving us said that it was unavailable. Odd.

What we had;

Americano Coffee [20AED] : A very basic black coffee with no sugar. It was piping hot when it got to me and I enjoyed it as I would from any other coffee shop. [4/5]

Salted Caramel and Burnt Marshmallow Hot Chocolate [35AED] : Okay I won’t lie to you, I hate Marshmallows.. same with my two other friends. So why did we order it? We saw a beautiful picture of this drink circulating the social media and we really wanted to give it a try as well. When walking into Cocoa Room, every 1 out of 3 tables, you’ll see a Burnt Marshmallow Hot Chocolate being devoured. Sadly, once you try removing the burnt marshmallow from the top.. you would notice, the cup itself is filled with half hot chocolate and half marshmallows. I’d suggest they reduce the quantity of the marshmallows by half. The drink was liked by my friend. She loved the mild caramel taste. Though once cold, it does not taste that great. Sugar was also a bit on the extra side. [3.8/5]

Brownie Pancakes [70AED] : Oh boy, this dish was insane! Presentation wise, i’d probably give them a 2/5, it just looked like pancakes placed on the plate and loads and loads and loads of chocolate sauce and chocolate shavings slapped on to it by a lazy chef. The pancakes in general were yummy! Yes! But oh SO heavy. So much so that I am pretty sure at the most a person can have about 3/4th a pancake. The chocolate is so thick and decadent. The entire dish was delicious. But the serving size was huge! 4 pancakes are good for 3 people to share and so are the prices. I hope they would have a half portion option in the future for these pancakes. [4.1/5]

The service was decent. They seemed hostile for some reason, but we could not be bothered because I was honestly loving the ambience and the music in general. I will come back to this place maybe for a coffee and waffles next time.
